Union Leadership
CLUW seeks to inspire and help women develop the skills to take leadership roles at all levels of the union movement. CLUW also supports the formation of women's committees and women's caucuses within labor unions at all levels, wherever feasible.

Organizing Women
CLUW seeks to create a greater awareness of the benefits of union membership and to encourage unions to be more aggressive in their efforts to bring unorganized women under collective bargaining agreements, particularly in those areas where there are large numbers of women of color.

Contraceptive Equity
CLUW established the Contraceptive Equity Project in 2001 to inform union members and all women about legal, medical, political and collective bargaining issues related to gaining contraceptive coverage in health insurance plans. In additions to recent favorable legal rulings, supporters of contraceptive equity now can rely on CLUW's Contraceptive Equity Toolkit to fight for fairness in health insurance plans.

Education and Training
The CLUW Center for Education and Research provides numerous education and training opportunities, including organizing, community outreach, negotiating, media outreach, political action and leadership training. The CLUW Center also awards CLUW Labor Education Scholarships to members to pursuing labor studies.

Mobilizing Women Beyond Election Day
CLUW is actively involved in political action programs, ranging from voter registration and education, to mobilizing members around CLUW legislative priorities on issues such as Social Security, family and medical leave, tax cuts, contraceptive equity, fair trade, and women's equality.

Support for Union Campaigns
CLUW has stood shoulder to shoulder with our union sisters and brothers fighting for dignity and justice. CLUW members participate in rallies, marches, petition drives, boycotts and write-in campaigns. From Wal-Mart, Delta and Stop Sweatshops to strawberry workers and striking UPS workers, CLUW has made a difference.

International Solidarity
CLUW takes the old labor motto, "An injury to one is an injury to all," seriously. Solidarity with our sisters and brothers beyond America's borders is a matter of mutual survival in a global economy that is merciless on those who cannot compete or collaborate. CLUW members have participated in a write-in campaign to the United Nations, protesting human rights violations in China. CLUW also joined the Jubilee 2000 mobilization to support debt cancellation for developing countries. CLUW has hosted forums for women leaders from Indonesia and Scotland.
